So I am going to be better about blogging and keeping everyone updated. This weekend I went to San Francisco with Mark and our friends Jon (I work with him), Roxanne (his friend from canada), and lindsay (Roxanne's friend from Canada). I havn't had that much fun in a long time. San Fran is beautiful and a no car friendly city.
After arriving at 3 am Mark and I headed for bed while the crazy Canadians went out for 24 hour Indian food. The next morning we saw the local Urban Outfitters and went to breakfast at a overpriced Jewish diner. Jon and Roxanne's friend was having an art show in the city so we headed over there to check it out. He is soooo good. You can see his work here: thetourshow.com. Then we headed down Haite street where all the shops are. On our way we happened upon a park and took a stroll through this beautifull woods, something you would never see in L.A. One at Haite Street I picked up a horse riding helmet at a vintage shop (I always wanted one of those). It was starting to get dark and we were super hungry so we hailed a cab back to the hotel and got ready for China town.
The beautiful thing about this trip is that we were committed to having fun and not compromising our vision for that fun. We stopped at a shop in China town to pick up some sesame balls with bean paste inside (soooo good) and went looking for a roudy chinese restaurant (we were in the mood to be loud). We were litterally forced into the restraunt by a chinese lady and led upstairs to this very quiet very unroudy restaurant. We all sat down and immediatly knew that this wasn't the right place. Thankfully Roxanne excused us and we bolted out of there. No more than a few minutes later we were forced up another set of stairs to another very quite restaurant. This time we didn't sit down, we just turned around. Thankfully the next place was perfect and we had a very filling very loud dinner. We spent the rest of the evening in a local pub where we met up with Marks old high school friend Nick.
The next day we checked out of our hotel in Union Square and headed to Breakfast on Queen Street to meet up with me and Jon's ex co-worker Shaine. After breakfast and Shaine's explanation of why L.A. is better than San Fran we headed out of the city. We planned on taking the road along the ocean back but I sort of forgot untill we were well on our way. Luckily I picked the best little side road to take us to the PCH (the Pacific Coast Highway). We drove through these BEAUTIFUL woods and ended up right next to the ocean. We stopped for some pictures and a little cliff climbing. I met a lovely older couple on top of one of the cliffs. The couple lived near by and informed me that we had picked the best time of the year to travel along the PCH. He was a banker and was dabbling in photography so he shot some pictures of me and Jon on the cliff.
We stopped in Monterey for dinner and had some delicious clam chowder. Well we were told that taking the PCH would be longer but no one ever told us that it was deadly. For a good two hours in the complete darkness we drove on the windyist roads right along the cliffs. I seriously thought that we were going to die. So we stopped for a while to stare at the amazing stars. I swear we could see every single one. The road finally straightened out and we finally made it home (at 2 am). It was a really great trip it made me realize that I really need to travel more. and just have more fun.
